Yoga is an ancient science of living, a system designed to both heal and enhance the individual. Since its origins in the 6th century AD, yoga has been a tool for people to peacefully unite all the aspects of their being: the physical, the emotional, the psychological, and the spiritual.

MoveYoga integrates Indian philosophy with modern yogic methodology, creating a practice which both honors ancient tradition and incorporates current techniques.

It is often said that modern American yoga overemphasizes physical conditioning: we think of it as a way to keep our bodies beautiful and healthy rather than as a means to spiritual development. At MoveYoga we understand that the physical and spiritual aspects do not conflict. Asanas (the physical poses most of us associate with yoga) do help to beautify, strengthen, and invigorate the body, but they also serve to create a comfortable space within which nonphysical changes can occur. Many individuals approach yoga for the purpose of fitness, and, through gradual introduction to pranayama (breath work) and meditation, discover that the practice rewards them in ways that transcend bodily benefits.

Whether you seek a healthier body, mind, heart, or soul, consider using yoga as a tool on your journey.
